Three guesses as to which man is an arse in my opinion:
1. Gormless Gordon Broon? Nope.
2. Con man Cameron? Nope.
3. Fishy Eck Salmond? Nope.
I'll have to tell you then - drum roll - Donald "hairspray" Trump.
Why?
Not content with issuing an "open letter", which was filled with spite and malice, attacking my friend Councillor Debra Storr, over her justified complaints that his lackeys had blocked public access to the Menie sand dunes (I've seen the photos and boy was access blocked!), his latest bout of petulance is to lodge a complaint with the Standards Commission, the body which oversees Councillor conduct. It would appear that the complaint refers to the fact that Debra complained to Aberdeenshire Council's access officer and the Police that access had been blocked.
This bullying behaviour by Trump appears to be part of a campaign to browbeat Debra over her honestly held, genuine and substantial objections to his plans to build 2 golf courses, 500 houses and 950 holiday homes on the Menie estate. These plans will involve the destruction of a unique set of sand dunes which are a SSSI.
Oh, before I forget, Debra only found out about the "open letter" when she was contacted by the media.
Keep up the good work Debra, there are many, many of us who remain on your side!

Don't expel Martin Ford
The Lib Dem group on Aberdeenshire Council are today going to vote on a proposal to expel Councillor Martin Ford from the group. Martin voted according to standard procedure over the Trump plans - it's normal for the chair to vote for status quo if there is a tied vote. To expel him from the group would be petty, mean spirited and pathetic.
To those who intend being party of this political lynch-mob I say; what part of Liberal Democrats do you not understand?

More Trump arrogance
It's been reported today that in an interview with 'Vanity Fair' magazine (how apt!) Donald Trump has said of his planning application for Menie estate in Aberdeenshire "between you an me, I'm going to get it." This is despite the application having been called in by the Scottish Government and a Public Inquiry taking place.
He added: "If Jack Nicklaus had tried to do this, he'd have zero chance, but they like what I have done, and because I am who I am and my mother is Scottish. Between you and me, I'm going to get it."
Councillor Martin Ford, who controversially lost his position as Convener of Aberdeenshire Council's infrastructure committee over the issue, said: It is immaterial in planning law where your mother was born or how wealthy you are or what your character is like. I find it very disturbing that Mr Trump is so confident on which way the decision will go even before the inquiry has even begun."
Patrick Harvie, the Green MSP for Glasgow Region commented: "I have complete confidence the inquiry will be open and fair. This is just a reflection of Trump's arrogance. I think the title Vanity Fair says it all."
Interestingly enough Jack Nicklaus has had planning approval for a golf course on the Ury Estate near Stonehaven in Aberdeenshire. It doesn't plan to build on a SSSI.

Councillor friend cleared by watchdog
My friend, Aberdeenshire Councillor Debra Storr has been cleared by Standards Commission of showing bias in her consideration of the proposed Trump "resort" for the Menie Estate in Aberdeenshire. Debra said: "I am glad this has been cleared up. I try to provide my constituents with as much information as possible on what is happening and use every channel available to me."
Debra suggested that the Trump organisation was "closing down other businesses" after they attempted to stop access rights used by local fisherman Michael Forbes. The Council's legal chief had cleared Debra of any wrongdoing back in October last year.
The Trump organisation, in what some will see as bullying behaviour, claimed she may have breached the Councilor's Code of Conduct and threatened Debra with legal action after she published links to anti trump organisations on her personal website. Details of the Trump organisation's website were also published by Debra.
The Trump organisation should be billed for the costs of the investigation and Scottish authorities must stand up to aggressive and bullying tactics by organisations and businesses.

Arrogant Trump Chump
Who the f**k does George Sorial think he is trying to tell us how we should run a public inquiry?
The cheeky git has been reported in the press as saying that the inquiry "must be quick to save money". No George, you are so utterly wrong - the inquiry should take as long as it needs to establish the TRUTH of the matter. Aren't you in agreement with that idea or are you simply hoping for a whitewash?
The pre-inquiry hearing commences in Aberdeen today and the full inquiry is expected to begin in June.

Salmond to face grilling by all MSPs on Trump
Gnat 1st Miniature Eck "two jobs" Salmond is set to be questioned by all MSPs over his involvement in the Trump planning application for a golf course hotel and hundreds of houses on the Menie Estate in Aberdeenshire. Of course the Gnats MSPs will be their usual supine lick-spittle selves and try to do everything in their power to give their boss an easy ride.
The debate is being called as the parliament's Local Government Committee voted 5-3 for a debate in Parliament with the three Gnats on the committee trying to stifle debate.
There are six key points in the report:
1. Trump tried to influence Salmond by sending him newspaper cuttings suggesting that the project may be moved to Northern Ireland.
2. trump phoned Salmond personally before the application was called in.
3. Despite his insistence that he was acting as a Constituency MSP, the 1st minister's office was closely involved in the process surrounding the Trump proposals.
4. mandarins were worried that wee Eck would meet Trump when he went on his jolly to New York.
5. Former worst minister, new labour's soon to ermine clad Jack McConnell, was keen to have his then administration involved with what he deemed as a "good news story".
6. Eck's staffers have had worries about the legitimate opposition to the plans and the fact that he seemed to be ignoring their concerns.

Gnat MSP Kenny Gibson suggests that "most people are bored rigid with this affair". As usual Gibson's talking through his arse and even if that were true it is no justification for the Gnats puerile attempts at stifling debate on the issue.

Wee Eck "Cavalier" in attitude to Trump development
The Scottish Parliament's Local Government Committee has just published it's report on concerns over the Scottish Government's behaviour regarding Donald Trump's proposed $1 Billion golf development in Aberdeenshire.
Committee Convener, Duncan MacNeill MSP, suggested that: "The committee believes that, far from taking a precautionary approach, the first minister was cavalier in his actions and displayed, at best, exceptionally poor judgement and a worrying lack of awareness about the consequence of his actions"
The BBC reports that Several SNP committee members disagreed with a series of its conclusions. Quite frankly I would be astonished if any Gnats didn't back their heid honcho to the hilt as they seem to believe that shouting nothing is wrong loudly and often will make people believe that all was done properly. They are going to be sorely disappointed though. I'm sure there will be many more blog posts about Eck and Trump before all the alleged dirty linen has been aired.

Salmond hauled before Holyrood Committee over Trump
First Minister of Scotland Alex Salmond is to appear before Holyrood's Local Government Committee, which has decided to investigate the Scottish Government's interference over Trump's application to build a large development on the Menie estate in Aberdeenshire.
There would have been a public inquiry were it not for the Tories siding, as usual, with the Gnats thus the Lib Dem's and Labour had insufficient votes to force the issue. I really feel that the Tories, allegedly the most pro-Union party, are playing a very dangerous game in sooking up to the gnats as they are putting the Union in peril. despite the odd rogue poll the vast majority of ordinary Scots do not want independence. Herald journalist Douglas Fraser cracked the nail on the head when he said on his blog "Is there any hole out of which the Tories will not dig their Nationalist chums?"
Anyway, others appearing before the committee will include Scotland's Chief Planner Jim McKinnon, Fiance Secretary John Swinney and the Chief Executive of Aberdeenshire Council.

Nice one Nicol!
Scottish Lib Dem Leader Nicol Stephen played a blinder at yesterday's First Minister's Questions in the Scottish Parly.
He suggested that the Scottish Government's involvement in trumpgate "smells of sleaze" and that " This is a serious situation for the first minister and his government. Every step of the way there is contradiction, concealment and cleverness from his government on this issue." He also called, justifiably, for an independent public inquiry into the issue.
I honestly believe that this has been the best direct hit on Eck and his government since they took power back in May and helps to prove the argument that with Labour being all over the shop, the Toris chumming up to the gnats and refusing to be an opposition at all, we in the Scottish Lib Dems are the real opposition to this gnat government.

26 Aberdeenshire councillors & a "First Minister" with questions to answer
News has just broken that Councillor Martin Ford has been sacked as Convener of the Council's Infrastructure services Committee by 26 votes to 10. This is because he, following customary practice, gave his casting vote on the hugely controversial Donald Trump development which was planned for the Menie estate in Aberdeenshire. This is craven behaviour by the Councillors who voted to sack Martin and seems like vindictive political behaviour of the crassest sort.
An emergency meeting of the full Council is also to be called. The "Scottish Government" has also "called-in" the decision, which the Council cannot overturn themselves, as they bollocked up their rules which meant that the Infrastructure Services Committee has final say on major decisions like this rather than Full Council.
In another interesting development in this ongoing saga, it seems that Gnat First Minister, Alex Salmond, used his Ministerial limo to travel to a meeting with Trump's underlings the night before his "Scottish Government" called-in the planning decision to have the final say on the proposal. Salmond cannot comment on the planning process and may well have broken the Ministerial Code of Conduct by using his official limo to attend this meeting. Salmond has also recently been wined and dined by Donald Trump in New York.
I had been in two minds about this proposal but the bullying behaviour of the Trump organisation, the destruction of a SSSI and the opinion of people whose views I respect have brought me round to opposition. Perhaps if the Trump lot had been a little more flexible over the site then a decent compromise could have been reached.
If the Gnat "Scottish Government" overturn this planning decision then they will have prostituted Scotland and all they will then be doing is haggling about the price to have international capitalist's F*** us over.

Lib Dem Councillor assaulted over planning rejection
My friend and Conference Committee colleague Councillor Debra Storr (Ellon & Distric Ward of Aberdeenshire Council) was assaulted by an angry women who was indignant over Debra's vote against giving planning permission to American billionaire Donald Trump's plans to build a hotel, golf course and 1500 houses.
Here is Debra in her own words as recounted to the BBC:
"There was a knock on my door and a woman who was somewhat upset gave a stream of obscenities relating to the Trump application. "
"She stepped over the doorstep and pushed me. I think she was slightly surprised at what she had done. She left with the parting words 'I will get you'. "
"I was very upset, it's very disturbing. I was just doing what I thought was right. You do not expect as a councillor to be subjected to intimidation."
Speaking about the vote, and her hopes for a revised application: "There were so many problems with the application that it was clear it should be turned down. I hope the Trump Organisation comes back."
